Jesus "whom say you that I am?" In order to over emphasize their importance and thereby gain undue control of believers, men and organizations have tried to establish themselves as the mediator between the individual and Christ. This is subtly accomplished and many people fall into the snare of depending and leaning upon a certain group or minister instead of leaning on Jesus and casting all their cares upon Him and abiding in Him daily. Eventually, the individual loses his or her touch with God personally and becomes dependent upon others for spiritual survival. This is simply not God's plan—as the great Scripture was careful to point out: "There is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (I Tim. 2:5). Being a member of a group or assembly cannot become a substitute for your personal relationship with Jesus. Jesus was careful to promise each believer that He would never leave or forsake them. Jesus is the Good Shepherd who has given his life for the sheep, and He will leave the others to seek out the "one lost sheep"—this is a revelation of His personal concern and ministry in the individual's life.
